White hair for men: is it trendy?

Is white hair in men cool or should it be covered? The growing interest in white hair in men is radically changing traditions and habits. Whereas until a few years ago white hair in men was covered with dyes, the trend today is to enhance it and make it cool.

Why does white hair appear in humans? The “canizie”

As we have seen for women, for men too ageing is only one of the possible reasons leading to the appearance of grey hair. The “canizie” is precisely the progressive loss of hair colour, which tends to turn white with the passage of time. The process of going grey is closely linked to melanin:
with the passage of time, the melanin-producing cells (melanocytes) located within the hair bulb gradually decrease their activity.
The passage of time certainly contributes to white hair in men. Other causes may be genetics: one can have grey hair even when one is very young. A lifestyle associated with anxiety and stress, but also pollution or certain dietary deficiencies can affect the health of the hair and its colour.

How to enhance white hair in men

If there were times when white hair in a man was a sign of the passing of time, today the situation has radically changed. White or greying hair in men is considered attractive and seductive. Men is no longer reluctant to sport salt and pepper hair. The key is to get the right hairstyle that can further enhance the colour and shades. Obviously a medium-short cut is best and rely on the care of your barber or hairdresser who will be able to advise you best.
The use of modelling products such as waxes and pastes, for a lighter effect gel or oil not oil, must also become a daily routine. For greying hair, black gel is an excellent ally capable of giving a natural touch and enhancing the shade of greying hair. Anti-yellow shampoo is also a useful product for greying hair. Last but not least, coloured masks, particularly in this case the anti-yellow or pearl-grey mask, are useful for enhancing the shade. It is important to respect the application time and consider that these are temporary solutions, the effects of which wear off after a few washes.

How to cover a man’s grey hair

If salt and pepper hair just isn’t the right solution and you want to restore your colour at all costs, the only way out is classic hair dye. Hair dye is definitely not a permanent solution: it is a method constantly threatened by natural hair regrowth. In fact, every 2 or 3 weeks the roots turn white again and therefore the frequency of dyeing will be adjusted according to this regrowth.
