The anti-yellow shampoo: what it is and how to use it
Can you no longer stand that ugly yellow color of your hair? Does your beautiful white hair look dull and lifeless? The answer in both cases are anti-yellowing products. Let’s look at what they are and how they are used.
Why does hair turn yellow?
In case of natural white hair, yellowing is a very common phenomenon and is mainly due to the ageing of the hair, which becomes dull and tends to turn yellow. There are several causes including long exposure to the sun, pollution, but also water hardness and chlorine.
In case of dyed or bleached hair (highlights, balayage, shatush), the darker pigments, i.e. those linked to melatonin, are eliminated when bleaching or dyeing, thus leaving the keratin proteins less protected and more exposed to oxidative damage. The greatest problem of those with blond hair is precisely the color of the hair tending to yellow and the blond fading. The easiest and most effective remedy is definitely the anti-yellow shampoo.
Anti-yellowing shampoo: what it is and what it is used for
Anti-yellow shampoo is a product used to neutralize the yellow pigment that makes hair dull and matt. Anti-yellow shampoo contains violet pigments that can eliminate and counteract yellowing and neutralize unwanted yellow/orange tones. According to colorimetry, violet is in fact the neutralizer of yellow, i.e. the color that is in the opposite position on the color wheel, according to the principle of color complementarity. The anti-yellow shampoo is useful both to counteract the unsightly yellow of dyed or bleached hair (highlights, balayage, highlights, shatush) and to remove yellow from grey, white or very light blond hair. It is a product capable of restoring radiance, vitality and new energy to the hair. It does not work on black, dark or dark brown hair.
How to use anti-yellow shampoo: before and after
It is recommended not to only use the anti-yellowing shampoo, but to alternate it during the week with other shampoos usually used. The ideal frequency is 1-2 times a week and should be used consistently. A higher frequency of use is not recommended as it would not bring additional benefits. Before and after use, effectiveness is clearly visible from the first application. To boost the action, an anti-yellowing mask with the same neutralizing power can be combined.
It should be applied to wet hair and then massaged into the entire hair. Laying time is of fundamental importance: to be effective it should be left on for a few minutes (one to five depending on the hair type). Then rinse thoroughly. The use is very simple and easy to apply!
