How often should hair dying be done?
Hair dyeing is one of the most common beauty routines in the salon: some people prefer to change their hair color or there are those who want to keep their natural color by covering white hair. Choosing the type of dye is not the only question, however. Understanding how often to dye your hair is important both for the health of your hair and for maintaining your look.
How often should hair be dyed?
A minimum interval should be allowed to elapse between dyeing to protect and safeguard the hair. In fact, the damage caused by excessive bleaching, which can “burn” hair, is well known. Even too frequent dying can diminish the shine and vitality of hair. It’s better to opt for a minimum interval between services of at least twenty-five days. To keep the color bright and vibrant, however, you can resort to the use of hair highlights that have precisely the function of maintaining cosmetic color between services. For this you can seek advice from your local salon.
Dyeing by evaluating white hair regrowth
There are three parameters to watch for before deciding to re-dye. One of these is white hair regrowth. In fact, hair grows an average of one and a half centimeters per month, so already after a week the growth is recognizable. If you have little white hair, it is advisable to wait to go to the salon. On the other hand, if your hair consists mainly of white hair, it is better to perform the color service as soon as the time interval we recommended (twenty-five days) has “expired.”
Another parameter is the strength of one’s hair. In fact, there are people who have thick and strong hair, who can therefore afford to carry out coloring more regularly.
Finally, the last factor to take into account is the color at the ends: it is obviously best to avoid having a dull appearance or yellowish or orange undertones. If this occurs, it is a good idea to head to the salon immediately!
How you can make hair dye last longer
As we have suggested, the use of highlights is recommended. These are color masks that have the function of maintaining the cosmetic color, moisturizing hair and making it bright and vibrant. There are also shampoos and masks specifically for colored hair that manage to protect the color by deeply moisturizing hair and keeping the pH level low by helping the cuticles close. By adopting these tricks, you can lengthen the life of the color by preventing it from fading too soon and thus postpone the hair salon appointment.
Another remedy to adopt is to protect hair from excessive heat from blow dryers and straighteners by using the appropriate hair heat protection products.
